Hi! I'm The Neurotic Nester, Heather, designer and owner of this shop!
It was never my desire to learn to sew, but it's now my go-to comfort and means of sanity! I forced myself to learn to sew after my daughter was born, because she was a big baby and we cloth diapered, so her chunk plus her diaper fluff meant it was nearly impossible to find pants that fit her. After making sleep sacks, pants, headbands, nursing scarves, and cloth wipes, more people voiced their opinion that I should start selling. Now I make a wider range of items for all ages, from headwear (beanies and headbands) to tops (shirts, tunics, cardigans), bottoms (pants, shorts, leggings, skirts), one pieces (rompers, dresses), and accessories like scarves and convertible nursing cover scarves and lap aprons. Mostly, I just love the creative process with so many more opportunities to innovate with each step, which I couldn't find in photography or dance or painting - designing an item, choosing the materials to make it, assembling it, photographing them, and even creating displays for a booth at local artist events is just a blast!
I recently upgraded my studio space, from sewing out of a closet, to finally taking over an entire room for my office (like a normal person). I enjoy using all the different creative parts of my brain to make pieces that get to be enjoyed by people of all ages and sizes. My husband knows every time someone sends me an action shot in my pieces I've made for them; it's a very specific excited squeal! If the customer and I are both squealing, I have accomplished my goals - that's why I do what I do. :]
All my products are handmade with love in my animal-free smoke-free toddler-roaming home, here in Idaho. That's right - all made in the USA!
